Having a balll!

All students will be working on their hand eye coordination this week and next.  Students will start with the basics of tossing and catching "juggling scarves" and move on to throwing and catching with partners.  As we move through the unit, we will also practice kicking, dribbling, and shooting!

**Friday 9/28 is an early dismissal, First grade and AM kindergarten will have gym that day.**

Tumbling into a new week!

First and Second grade started tumbling last week and will continue to expand upon some simple movements and balances as we start the week.  Up next we will be working on throwing and catching as a skill and using it in team play!

**Just a reminder**   Most students are doing a great job remembering gym shoes everyday; if your child wears sandals to school please send them with gym shoes and socks as well!  Thank you!

Let's get moving!

As we start our movement unit, students will be practicing various movements during class to learn the different ways our bodies move.  The more we move the greater the risk for injury so we will be stressing safe movements and interactions.  Students did a great job this past week demonstrating what they learned during our PBIS week.  The Elizabeth Ide Fall book fair and ice cream social is this Thursday 6:30-8.  Hope to see you there!

FUNdamentals of PE

The beginning of this year will be similar for all three grades as we learn to develop skills which relate to safe movement, cooperation and sportsmanship!  Practicing these skills will lead to a healthy and fun year.   Students need to remember that more can be done together than alone.  Ask your child about some of the activities they will be doing in class this week.

** Please remember to send your child with gym shoes, as they will not be able to participate in boots, crocs, sandals, etc.  Thank you! **
