Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a nice, long restful Thanksgiving break.  As we return from break, all three grades are working on throwing and catching.  In addition to that 1st and 2nd grade are starting kickball games this week.  Students will learn all the positions and the importance of team play as they continue to work on these skills through a kickball game. Kindergarten has been doing relay races with stress placed on doing their best and having fun over winning! Everyone wins when they are being a team and realizing exercise contributes to a healthy life!

Tumbling into Teamwork!

Tripods, Headstands, Cartwheels and more! Students have practiced some of these stunts over the past two weeks.  While the emphasis has been on individual skills and development thus far; we turn our focus over the next few weeks to what it means to be part of a team and ways that we can help each other.  Students will get a chance to work in small and large teams to achieve different goals during PE.  This is a great chance for the students to develop self-esteem too!

Welcome to PE 2014-2015

I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing summer.  It was great to see so many of you at open house this week!  As we start our new school year, I ask for some help remembering to send your child with gym shoes for their safety and the safety of others.  Students this first week have a unique schedule as we introduce our PBIS stations and lay out the expectations in different locations for the school year.  After this week, students will have P.E.  everyday of the year except for half day and special occasions.  I look forward to a great year instilling healthy habits and creating enthusiasm for physical activity!

Pillow Hockey

With our tennis unit wrapped up, we enter another unit with a risk for injury.   Students did a fantastic job safely demonstrating their tennis skills and understanding.  Pillow Hockey is a much more involved unit where multiple students will be participating at the same time.  While we are still stressing the importance of safety, students will get to enjoy various types of games as we practice the skills needed for pillow hockey!
